Our Forever Young Book Club brings teens and adults together over a shared interest: Reading!
Young Adult books are a popular genre for every generation, and you don't need to be a teen to enjoy them! Join us once a month for intergenerational conversations, laughs, and snacks!
April is national poetry month and we're celebrating by reading a novel in verse!
This month's book pick is: Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds
Description:
William Holloman is ready to exact vengeance on the person who murdered his older brother, Shawn. As Will rides the elevator down from his eighth-floor apartment, a new person, who is dead, gets on each floor and tells a story about their lives, all connected to three rules of the neighborhood:
Don't cry.
Don't snitch.
Get revenge.
Most of the ghosts' stories revolve around that third rule, wherein one person died because they killed someone who killed someone connected to their family, creating a continuous cycle of death.
The full story takes place over the course of a minute.
Ages 13+
